You are completely right, Dr Lee, it’s very different when you have a family member or really close friend going through something medical, because it’s not work it’s personal.
My now three-year-old son has two of these next to his left year. If he wants to he can take care of it when he gets older. But for now I kind of cherish his “extra ear” because it is one of the things that make him, himself!

I have seen some derms bruise the patient by insisting that the every blackhead has to come out with an extractor. Sometimes cotton swabs or fingers are the best way to go. Great teaching!
